State sponsored violence against young people, the poor, minorities, immigrants and women is on the rise

March 15, 2012 in 2012 Elections, Class War

And those who give a damn about democracy should care enough to speak up.

In an article written by Henry A. Giroux, he writes: “.Young people are demonstrating all over the world against a variety of issues ranging from economic injustice and massive inequality to drastic cuts in education and public services. At the moment, these demonstrations are being met with state-sanctioned violence and insults in the mainstream media rather than with informed dialogue, critical engagement and reformed policies. In the United States, the state monopoly on the use of violence has intensified since the 1980s and, in the process, has been increasingly directed against young people, poor minorities, immigrants and increasingly women.  . . ”  Source

I agree with Mr. Giroux, a writer I admire, however, while state sponsored violence against young people, the poor, minorities, immigrants and women may be on the rise, we need to remember that it has always been firmly in place and the investor class as well as at least 95% of Congress and the media (who belong to the same class) have nurtured this violence against people from the majority who get in the way of their greed since the foundation of this nation.  And state sponsored violence and the willful blindness of those we send to Washington is not only manifested by police in riot gear shooting our young people as they did at Kent State and as they continue to do so today.  it is also manifested in other ways–ways that we often don’t hear of until years later.  Medical experiments conducted on human beings–American citizens without their knowledge, much less permission–that’s another form of state-sponsored violence against the majority.  Deliberately setting up conditions with their globalization schemes whereby the only hope for a job for young people is to join the repressive military who carry out the missions of the investor class.  There, like Pavlovian dogs, they are stripped of any shred of humanity and turned into killing machines.

____________________________________________________

Yes, We should all be concerned and the most significant thing that we can do about it is to stop voting for the rich investor class that we send to Washington year after year because they are the ones who profit from this corrupt evil crony system.  They have no motivation to change it.  In fact, as long as we continue to vote for them, we can expect more of the same and it makes little difference if they are democrats or republicans–a fact that most Americans still don’t seem to grasp.

Turn your backs on them all, America–all of them–as they have turned their backs on us.  Don’t even try to compete in their arena.  If you do, then you will either lose, or worse, become one of them.

_____________________________________________________

Please start the buzz now and perhaps other people will follow.  There is currently one candidate for the US Congress who is not fashioning her campaign after any other candidate in the USA.  Her name is Emma Berry.  She is running for US Congress to represent the people of the 32nd District of Texas–a district where over 200,000 children live below the poverty line while their current US Representative, Pete Sessions, holds fundraisers in expensive ski resorts in Park City Utah–just like all the other members of Congress and even the President and those who would be President with their $5,000 plate dinners and $250 cocktail parties.  Who among the majority can afford that?   They should all be ashamed of themselves for what they do.  They have all lost sight of the how the majority of us live.

Here is Emma Berry’s idea of fund raising and campaign strategy.  It is called “Common Decency and Compassion for the People I Promise to Represent in Washington DC.”  It is called:  ”Coming together to stop them.”  It is called “All for One and One for All”–not “Me First” or “Money First.”  It is called “Reach out to your neighbor.”  It’s called “Do the right thing.”  But it’s not called “Give me money so I can beat the ‘bad’ guy.”

Unlike the rest of them, I will not be taking a cent from anyone for my campaign, not do I have some vast personal fortune that I will be pouring into my campaign.  I may be asking for volunteers to walk my district with me in May to gather signatures on my petition to get my name on the ballot as an Independent candidate for the 32nd District of Texas, and I will be asking this as I walk through my district asking for signatures on my petition for ballot:

If you want me for your representative then this is what you must do:

1. Make two homemade yard signs that say:  ”I stand with Emma Berry for the 32nd District” or whatever you want to say about voting for Emma Berry.

2. Put one in your yard and then tell your neighbor about me and give them a sign to put in their yard.  Tell them to pass it on.

3. Instead of donating money to my campaign, do something to improve the 32nd district.  it doesn’t have to be donating money.  You can pick up trash in a local park.  You can visit a nursing home and cheer up a lonely person.  You can volunteer in a homeless shelter.  And don’t just do it once, make that a daily weekly or monthly part of your life ongoing for our district.

4. Write to me and tell me what you have done.  Tell me your story of how you have made the 32nd district better.

AND ABOVE ALL ELSE:  BELIEVE!  IMAGINE THAT IS POSSIBLE!   BECAUSE IT IS.  Yes you can send a candidate to the US Congress who does not play their money game.  All it takes is your vote–not your money or anyone’s money.  Just your vote.

Ron Paul even has more support of the military than President Obama

March 4, 2012 in 2012 Elections, Middle East

Open Secrets reports that Ron Paul has more support of the military than any of the other presidential candidates for 2012.  This is significant since Ron Paul is against pre-emptive wars.  The other politicians should take a lesson for their own foreign policies regarding this.

It doesn’t take a village, but it does take you making better choices to change the world

      March 3, 2012 in 2012 Elections

It won’t be until May 30 now before I will be able to get out and gather the 500 signatures that i will need to get my name on the ballot as US Representative for the 32 District.  The Texas primary has been pushed now from the first Tuesday in March to the 29th of May–just another challenge as that means I’ll be collecting my signatures in 100+ degree heat in June and July in Texas.   In the meantime I intend to continue to focus on the power of the individual.

I thought about that this morning while reading about the recent surge of the Occupy groups to protest corporations.  One article reported that a protester shouted ”Pfizer is a company that makes lifesaving drugs for five cents and resells them for fifty fucking dollars!”  Yes and on some of its products Pfizer has a wider profit than that.  But Pfizer would not be able to survive if all its investors understand that Pfizer exists because of them–as individuals.  If they forgot about what every one is doing and did the right thing themselves, Pfizer would go out of business.

We all need to start taking responsibility for our nation and start making better choices as individuals.  Over the coming three months, I will feature alternative choices for individuals.  Today, I’m featuring a better choice for T-shirts.  One of the advantages of not taking money from anyone is that no one can accuse me of commercialism.  Here is a better choice–particularly for people who live in Texas and North an South Carolina.  Instead of buying three T shirts made in China from Walmart, for $5 a piece, buy one T shirt from SOS Texas for $15.

      _________________________________________________________

Even the simple choice of where you purchase a T-shirt makes a difference.

SOS t-shirts are made from organic cotton grown on their certified organic farms. SOS t-shirts have been certified organic by the Texas Department of Agriculture since 1992. This certification information is provided with their products to show their authenticity. U.S. Organic Standards require a 3 year chemical free farming period before being allowed to be “certified organic”.

Cotton for SOS t-shirts is planted in mid-May and harvested after frost in November. The harvested cotton is ginned at their certified organic gin and then shipped to a certified mill in North Carolina for spinning into yarn. The yarn is also knitted, finished and sewn in the Carolinas. SOS products have a pedigree as they can tell you when and where they were planted and trace their development into a finished product.

SOS organic cotton products are 100% Made in the USA, “sweat shop free”, by American workers being paid a fair and lawful wage. These standards do not allow for a “cheap” organic t-shirt, but a product with a very high value and quality that customers can be proud to wear for many years.

“As we grow organic cotton t-shirts, we share our land with you, our customers. SOS organic cotton is “good for man and good for the land” as these practices improve our environment, create jobs for people in rural American and keep our family farm and heritage sustainable. SOS organic cotton products are truly unique and we hope you enjoy the fruit of our land. Check out Blog for updated information and product selections.”  SOS from Texas.

If you live in the 32nd District of Texas, you may have the unique opportunity to vote for the only candidate running for US Congress who is running a campaign with no money.  If I win, it will mean a victory not only for me, but for all the people of the USA. If one person can do it, then all can do it.  We can change who runs Washington.  We can change Wall Street, but not until each of us as individuals believes that we can and do matter. The only way you can help me win is by helping the people of the 32nd district of Texas and telling others that you did it in honor of no more campaign funds for candidates.  For example, instead of contributing hundreds or thousands of dollars to me, do something for those 175,000+  children (enough to fill the Cowboy Stadium twice) who are living below the poverty line in the 32nd district and going to bed hungry each night while people like David Koch pour millions into the campaigns of politicians who will allow them to continue to foul America.

It doesn’t take a village. It only takes one person, you, to make a difference.

        March 1, 2012 in 2012 Elections

        It doesn’t take a village–It takes you!

That will be the theme of my  campaign for US Congress 2012 that I’m kicking off in a few days with a homemade sign in my own front yard.

I’ve been giving a lot of thought over the past month as to whether I want to even try to make a difference by running as an an independent candidate for the US 32nd Congressional District.  I’m so disgusted and fed up with the leadership of both parties.  One bunch is as greedy and selfish as the other.  Neither party represents  80% of Americans.  The overwhelming majority of Congress are in it for themselves.  All you have to do is look at their votes and look at the increase in their net worth over the past 3 years while the majority of Americans have been going down the tubes many of them losing their jobs and homes.

Here in Dallas, a city located in my district, we have over 175,000 children living below the poverty line–enough to fill the .Dallas Cowboy stadium (seating capacity 80,000) more than twice.  Imagine that!  a city right here in my district with 175,000 in need, going to bed hungry.  That is a disgrace.  And this is just one city in my district.  There are other cities as well.

And how does the current US Representative of the 32nd district, Pete Sessions, represent  these children and their parents?  Not very well.  If he did, we would not have over one-third of the children in our district living below the poverty line.  And how does Mr. Sessions run his campaign?  He runs his campaign like they all do–by appealing to the richest of the rich for donations.  By holding exclusives parties that cost more to attend than many Americans earn in  month, or in some cases several months.  This is democracy?  Not by my standards.  Mr. Sessions held a ski party fund raiser in Park City Utah.  How many parents of those children living below poverty level in Mr. Sessions District do you think attended that party?

Mr. Sessions is a Republican, but the Democrats do the same thing.  Until more than a few people called them on their hypocrisy, Michele Obama was was supposed to be the key speaker at a reception (Nov 1, 2011) at the Westin Oaks in the Galleria. Later in the day, she was going to be a special guest at the home of Laura and John Arnold for a private reception and dinner. John Arnold was a former natural gas trader for Enron.  The Houston Chronicle reported:  The super-wealthy hedge fund manager and his wife will introduce Obama to individuals who paid $10,000 for the privilege or couples who paid $15,000. There’s a bargain-basement price, as well — $250 per person to attend the cocktail party earlier in the evening.”

There is more to Mr. Arnold than that.  In 2001, as it was going down the tubes and thousands of American’s pensions with it, Enron paid Mr. Arnold an $8 million bonus.  When Enron collapsed in 2002, he founded Centaurus with his previous year’s bonus. How about that!  Arnold didn’t skip a beat, nor did he lose one cent of his $8 million dollar bonus.  Thousands of Enron employees were not so lucky. They lost their pensions they had tied up in Enron’s 401K retirement plan.  His company now has as much as $3 billion in assets under management.  His employees include several big name energy traders including ex-Enron President Greg Whalley.  And guess what?  Mr Arnold is part of an organization pushing to convert public pensions — including teachers, police, firefighters and others — to 401(k)-style plans.  Sure you betcha. Then people like Mr. Arnold can skim off the top and leave the rest with nothing–just like he did with Enron employees.

        **************************************************************************

Description of the Campaign that I will run.

I got sidetracked.  (The stuff goes so deep that it is difficult to not get lost in the muck.)

        1.  I will not take a cent of campaign contributions–not even from the people in my district.

        2.  I will begin on Saturday (March 3) by posting my first homemade campaign sign in my yard.  (I’ll post a photo of it on this site)

3,  Whether people in my district vote in the primary on April 4 is up to them.  If they are completely disgusted with both parties, I advise them not to because in Texas, if  you vote in the primary, you cannot sign the ballot petition of Independents like me.  It’s considered as voting twice.  However, if you do want to vote in the primary, you can still vote for me in the fall if I garner enough signatures to get my name on the ballot.

        4.  In the months of April and May I will be walking around my district gathering signatures for my ballot petition.  At that time I will ask all who sign my ballot petition to do this:
        a.  Make two homemade signs saying “It doesn’t take a village-  Vote for Emma Berry 32nd US District”
        b.  Put one sign in your yard and give the sign to another person in the district asking them to do the same thing.
        c.  Then instead of giving money to support me, give as much as you can to help someone in the 32nd district. who needs the help.
        d.  Then contact me with the story of what you did.  Tell others about your story. Your story will mean more to my election than thousands of dollars contributed to my campaign.

AND THAT’S MY CAMPAIGN STRATEGY.  Will it work?  I don’t know.  That’s entirely in the hands of about 600,000 people who reside in the 32nd district.  But just imagine if it does work.  What does that say?  A campaign won without a cent. What does that say about the possibility for good?  It gives a whole new meaning to the phrase “pull yourself up by your own bootstraps” doesn’t it?  Not only should we pull ourselves up, we should bring others with us.  As long as we have even one boot in the boat, we can offer a hand to someone who is drowning.

Perhaps I”ll brand my campaign:  As long as you have one boot still in the boat . . .

Active Duty Troops March on Presidents Day for Ron Paul

          February 21, 2012 in 2012 Elections

A crowd of more than a thousand people met alongside the Washington Monument Monday afternoon and marched to the White House in a demonstration of support for Ron Paul. With an “about face,” veterans and active duty service members turned their backs to the White House and sent a message to the President: Ron Paul is the choice of the troops.

February 21, 2012 in 2012 Elections, Class War

            And that includes the USA.

Europe is already showing those signs.

Sarkozy a pro-corporate centrist is on the ropes in France and last week, Germany elected a new president –

According to Der Spiegel: Joachim Gauck, 72, a civil rights activist in former East Germany who already had the support of Germany’s center-left opposition. While Gauck has broad backing among the German populace, Merkel’s conservatives had torpedoed his candidacy once before — during the election of Wulff in 2010. Accepting Gauck this time around was an extremely difficult political pill to swallow.

The potential consequences of not accepting him, however, were even worse. Had Merkel’s Christian Democrats (CDU), together with their Bavarian sister party, the Christian Social Union (CSU), put up a competing candidate and lost, her government would have been left in shambles.

What does it all signify? Not much if you consider the percentage of turnout

              February 8, 2012 in 2012 Elections

Tempest in a teapot, a ladle, a teacup

Cicero, in the first century BC, in his De Legibus created  possibly the precursor to the modern expressions, “Gratidius excitabat fluctus in simpulo, ut dicatur”, translated: “Gratidius raised a tempest in a ladle.

The French referred to the popular uprising in the Republic of Geneva near the end of the 17th century as “une tempete dans une verra d’eau” (a tempest in a glass of water).

              _________________________________________________________

You may notice that the media leave out an important feature of many of these turnouts:  the percentage of voters who actually showed up to vote in these Republican primaries.  That says a lot about the true interest.  For example, I don’t know the actual percentage of Republicans who showed up to vote in Colorado but yesterday afternoon I heard on the radio that the percentage was estimated to be as low as 10% of the registered Republicans. Then, if you will consider that the registered Republicans are a minority of registered voters in many of these states.  .  .  Well, you get the big picture, don’t you?

Romney gave a small taste as to how he will be responding to his defeat in the coming weeks.  Looks like he plans to hit Santorum, Gingrich and Paul hard as being Washington insiders.  That’s a smart tactic and it will work against Obama too. When it comes to Washington DC, that is Romney’s unique claim–he is an outsider.  However, he forgets that when it comes to being a Wall Street insider, he may be the champion.

“Washington will never be reformed by those who have been compromised by the culture of Washington. This is a clear choice. I’m the only person in this race, Republican or Democrat, who has never served a day in Washington. And where I come from, leadership is about starting a business, not trying to get a bill out of committee,” Romney said.

              ___________________________________________________________

We have Maine this Saturday February 11 and then Michigan and Arizona on February 28.

Maine is up for grabs, but I would expect Romney to win Michigan handily.  Arizona is another toss up.  And the wagons will grind on bringing the greatest show on earth to its next stop where, instead of addressing the real issues of  lack of jobs and the poverty in these states, these politicians will be spending millions to advertise promises as thin as air while extracting the price of a ticket in the form of a “donation” to continue their fabulous hot air machine.

Few seem to notice that the crowds are thinning out and the Circus Masters, with a few of their close friends are the only ones who seem to be attending their show.

So much for inevitable. Santorum packed a wallop to Romney.

                February 8, 2012 in 2012 Elections

Rick Santorum won all three:  Missouri, Minnesota and Colorado

Romney placed third in Minnesota!  that’s amazing!  Ron Paul placed ahead of Romney.

For those who think that it’s all about money, look at the  chart below.  It  wasn’t the big spender who carried the three states.

The Grammar Text for Political Leaders of the USA for the past 30 years has been George Orwell’s Newspeak

February 7, 2012 in 2012 Elections, Class War

The graphic above is one that I created over a year ago when I wrote an article on this same topic titled:  ”As the Queen has repeatedly said, “Americans need an education in propaganda.”

The language of their communications and the description of their “solutions”–oral and written follows closely that of Newspeak.

Newspeak is a fictional language in George Orwell’s novel Nineteen Eighty-Four. In the novel, it refers to the deliberately impoverished language promoted by the state. Orwell included an essay about it in  an appendix in which the basic principles of the language are explained. Newspeak is closely based on English but has a greatly reduced and simplified vocabulary and grammar. This suits the totalitarian regime of the Party, whose aim is to make any alternative thinking—”thoughtcrime”, or “crimethink” in the newest edition of Newspeak—impossible by removing any words or possible constructs which describe the ideas of freedom, rebellion and so on. One character from the book named Syme speaks admiringly of the shrinking volume of the new dictionary: “It’s a beautiful thing, the destruction of words.”

The whole purpose of Newspeak is to control thought by controlling language and by reducing all nuances of comparison to simple dichotomies such as pleasure and pain, happiness and sadness, goodthink and crimethink etc.

                  _____________________________________________________

I’ve been thinking of Newspeak for the past week after reading a few days ago an article about Newt Gingrich using simplified language and speaking in dichotomies of good and evil–reserving, of course the good words for himself and the bad words for any who disagree with him–from President Obama to Mitt Romney.  The article also referred to a topic I wrote about over a year ago:  a GOPAC memo entitled “Language: A Key Mechanism of Control.” Distributed to GOP candidates across the country, the memo’s list of words for Democrats and words for Republicans was endorsed by Gingrich in a cover letter: “The words in that paper are tested language from a recent series of focus groups where we actually tested ideas and language.” Next time you hear Gingrich complain about media focusing on the negative, refer back to these lists.   Why do you think that the right-wing are so bent on English as the only language.  It has nothing to do with freedom and patriotism and everything to do with control.  Every American should learn at least one other language and speak it 50% of the time if they are interested in protecting democracy.

Today is the anniversary of the day that George Bush sold America’s Soul.

Now this morning I was reminded yet again of this insidious and intentional plot to control the masses by controlling our language and grammar.   Andrew Cohen has written an article titled “The Torture Memos, 10 Years Later.

Today, February 7, 2012 is the tenth anniversary of the day that George W. Bush signed a brief memorandum titled “Humane Treatment of Taliban and al Qaeda Detainees“.  The title of the memo was a perfect example of the deep elitist cynicism of George Bush and his administration.  The memo had nothing whatsoever to do with humane treatment.  Instead the memo authorized and directed the soulless formal abandonment of the USA’s commitment to key provisions of the Geneva Convention.

                  Proclaim the Queen!

Republican Candidates rely on innuendo and ignorance of their base to get away with their outright lies.

                    February 6, 2012 in 2012 Elections

No better example than their references to Saul Alinsky–as if he were some evil communist who tried to overthrow the country.  They should be ashamed of themselves but it should come as no surprise that these enemies of the poor should pick on one of the largest heroes of the poor–Saul Alinsky.

If you are among the ignorant and listen to candidates like Newt Gingrich (who definitely knows better) you would think that Barack Obama personally knew Saul Alinsky.

Saul Alinsky died in 1972 in Chicago.  Barack Obama was 11 years old at the time and living in Hawaii.

Saul Alinsky, as I’ve pointed out was no  Communist.  He was not even a socialist.  But these days, anyone who is not a right-wing Tea Party fanatic is a Socialist to most members of the Republican Party and they are certainly painted that way by the Republican candidates.  Saul Alinsky’s “crime” (like that of ACORN) was helping the poor to organized their communities. Saul Alinsky has been compared to Thomas Paine as being “one of the great American leaders of the nonsocialist left.”  MORE

As Bill Moyers pointed out in a recent Truthdigg article, Saul Alinksy was  ”. . . A patriot, in a long line of patriots, who scorned the malignant narcisism of duplicitous politicians and taught every day Americans to think for themselves and to fight together for a better life. That’s the American way, and any good historian would know it.”

Believe me, people like Newt Gingrich and the leadership of BOTH parties are scared out of their wits about the uprising of the middle class of America against them and they are doubling down on their efforts against the majoirty.

                    ____________________________________________________

The Tea Party and Even Mitt Romney Are Associated with Saul Alinsky

Dick Armey, whose FreedomWorks organization helps bankroll the Tea Party, gives copies of Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals to Tea Party leaders.  Mitt Romney’s own father fraternized with Saul Alinsky.

BuzzFlash recently dug up photos of George Romney meeting with Saul Alinsky to discuss ways to help the urban poor.  Imagine that! A time in American history when politicians dared to discuss poverty instead of pretending that that the poor are lazy good-for-nothings who don’t want to work–as it comes today from the mouths of the investor class and the ignorant fools they convince with their lies.

But You are a Fool if you think that the leadership of the Democrat Party today is any different in its attacks on the middle class and the poor than the Republicans

But before you start thinking that the leadership of the Democrat Party are any different from the leadership of the Republican Party, you need to remember what a Democrat majority in BOTH houses of Congress did to ACORN.  They voted to cancel funding to ACORN–an organization whose only crime was to empower the poor by registering them to vote and organize in their communities.  That is the last thing that the plutocrats in charge of Washington want the majority of people in the USA to do–organize.  That’s why they have called out their attack dogs on Occupy.

A Democrat majority in BOTH houses of Congress destroyed ACORN and the sole proof?  A highly doctored video created by a known right-wing operative by the name of James O’Keefe.  It took ACORN a year, but they finally cleared their good name in court.  It was too late.  Because of all the negative publicity of the vote of the Democrat majority in BOTH houses ACORN lost almost all its funding.  They had to declare bankruptcy.

SHAME ON THE DEMOCRAT AND THE REPUBLICAN LEADERSHIP.  THE PLUTOCRATIC LEADERSHIP OF NEITHER PARTY DESERVES OUR SUPPORT.  It would be closer to the truth to say that the leadership of both parties are right-wing fascists who fully support a global war against the middle and working class.

They have different rhetoric, but when it comes to their votes, there is no difference whatsoever between a Democrat and a Republican member of Congress.  For example, many would call Barbara Boxer and Russ Feingold “liberals”.  Yet both of these “liberals” voted to defund ACORN solely on the flimsy testimony of a known right-wing operative.

                    Proclaim the Queen!
