Experimenting with a chain letter.

October 22, 2009 in Pop Culture

DO YOU GET EVER GET CHAIN LETTERS LIKE THIS?  I do from time to time and I never know what to do with them, so I do nothing.  I’ve decided this time to conduct an experiment.  I’ll keep you posted if my life changes. I have no doubt that something good will happen to me today as many good things happen to me every day. But I’ll let you know tomorrow if anything extraordinarily good happens to me.

I figure that out of 4,000 who will read at least a part of this today that at least three will pass it on.  AND if you do, would you please write to me and let me know what happened to you?  Did something good come to you?

What I would LOVE to know is this:  who is the person who originates letters like this?

*************************************************

Concentrate on this Sentence

‘To get something you never had, you have to do something you never did.’ When God takes something from your grasp, He’s not punishing you, but merely opening your hands to receive something better. Concentrate on this sentence… ‘The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you.’ Something good will happen to you today; something that you have been waiting to hear.

This is not a joke; someone will call you by phone or will speak to you about something that you were waiting to hear. Do not break!
Send it to a minimum of 3 people… Not before you read below

There comes a point in your life when you realize: Who matters, Who never did, Who won’t anymore…
And who always will.
So, don’t worry about people from your past, there’s a reason why they didn’t make it to your future.
Give these flowers to everyone you don’t want to lose in 2009 including me, if that’s what is in your heart.
Try to collect 5 ; it’s not easy!

One more thing about John Kings CNN show, “State of the Union”

October 18, 2009 in Pop Culture

Then I’ll end this Sunday morning fixation of mine, I promise.

The entire time that I was watching the show this morning, I was thinking that John King was actually Anderson Cooper. Yes, I saw the byline at the bottom of the screen that identified the show as John King State of the Union but I never heard of John before.  I just assumed that “Anderson Cooper” was standing in for John King (whoever that is).

John King’s wife, CNN reporter, Dana Ruth Schwartz Bash King (b. June 15, 1971). King married her May 25, 2008 after King converted to Judism.

I guess when the two are placed side-by-side one can see the differences.  But wow! Look at Anderson Cooper’s mom.  I suppose when money is no object that goat glands are not an issue.

    TRIVIA ON ANDERSON COOPER

He is the great-great-great grandson of Cornelius Vanderbilt.  Cooper’s mother is Gloria Vanderbilt, the great-great granddaughter of Robber Baron, Cornelius Vanderbilt.

A GOOD laugh for you from Kiss My Big Blue Butt

September 18, 2009 in Political Humor, Pop Culture

Susan DeQuesnay another Texas woman with a great website, Texas style, “KISS MY BIG BLUE BUTT” featured a couple of hilarious photos today.  I‘ll post one below, but  you’ll have to go to Susan’s site to see the other one.  Also there you can find a hilarious update about Tom Delay’s face lift. LOL  Susan lives in Richmond, Texas in the heart of Tom DeLay’s old district.

Susan is great.  Like Joe Bageant, she has a very unique and brilliant style–but Susan is much funnier.

If you’ve been wondering about the literacy rate in Texas, you can stop wondering.    I don’t know where that photo of a fellow holding the sign “You stupid Moran” originated, but odds are good that it was the lone star state.

How much lower can we get as a Nation? We continue to make war, long after other nations have withdrawn. We have the worst health care system of the industrialized nations and we are so backwards that a film about the life of Charles Darwin is too controversial? HOW DAMNED PATHETIC.

Charles Darwin film ‘too controversial for religious America’

A British film about Charles Darwin has failed to find a US distributor because his theory of evolution is too controversial for American audiences, according to its producer.

That’s correct.  I just read this in the UK Telegraph.  You can see it for yourself  HERE

CAPITALISM: A LOVE STORY (the story of the ultimate abusive relationship)

August 21, 2009 in Bailout, Banks, Political Humor, Pop Culture, Wall Street

CAPITALISM: A LOVE STORY’ – In Theaters October 2nd

“It’s a crime story. But it’s also a war story about class warfare. And a vampire movie, with the upper 1 percent feeding off the rest of us. And, of course, it’s also a love story. Only it’s about an abusive relationship.

“It’s not about an individual, like Roger Smith, or a corporation, or even an issue, like health care. This is the big enchilada. This is about the thing that dominates all our lives — the economy. I made this movie as if it was going to be the last movie I was allowed to make.

          “It’s a comedy.” — Michael Moore

          QUEEN’S ADDENDUM FROM DICK MEISTER:

” . . . Capitalism by its very nature has a primitive and terrifying power. It was never designed for the advance of working people. It was designed for the accumulation of profit by the entrepreneurs who direct capitalism….

You can’t bring the barbarians to book by the bargaining table alone. You will bring them to book by democratic – small “d” democratic – political action. . . There are worthy individual employers, but capitalism doesn’t move with individual employers who are good or bad. It moves as a collective -a collective always hostile to labor. The only way workers can survive against this capitalistic onslaught is through unions and political liberalism. . . “

Mickey Carroll (89) one of the last surviving Munchkins from the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz. Carroll was one of more than 100 adults and children recruited to play the movie natives of what author L. Frank Baum called Munchkin Country in his 1900 book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Carroll played the part of the Munchkinland Town Crier, marched as a Munchkin Soldier, and was the candy-striped Fiddler who escorted Judy Garland down the yellow brick road toward the Emerald City. He suffered from heart problems and died in his sleep in Crestwood, Missouri, a St. Louis suburb, on May 7, 2009.   Mickey is the one on the far left.

                    TAKE BACK THE TAP!

May 1, 2009 in Health, Pop Culture

QUEEN’S COMMENTS:  Most communities across America spend thousands of dollars every year to ensure that your water is safe to drink from the tap.  In fact, as many recent documentaries are pointing out, your tap water is actually safer and healthier to drink that  a lot of foo foo bottled water that is sold for upwards of $2 a bottle–not to mention the plastic issue of the bottle that it came in.   Now people are fighting back with the truth.

                    Take Back The Tap

Alec Baldwin and Celebrity Judges Declare Winner for Food & Water Watch Student Video Contest. Pioneering restaurants in San Francisco and New York have pledged to kick their bottled water habits and only serve tap water to their customers.

                    Cup of Water

Restaurants and films are taking back the tap -and you can too. After you take the pledge, grab your family and friends and watch a breakthrough documentary like FLOW, Blue Gold, or The Water Front. And before or after the show, enjoy a meal at a restaurant that does not sell bottled water.  It’s easy to Take Back the Tap!
