If Liz were Queen

As mentioned previously, iflizwerequeen started a poll that disregarded President Obama’s rather regal dismissal of the single payer option from even being discussed (thus an attempt from a negotiations point of view of killing the public option).  He, Rahm Emanuel and corporate health care shill Max Baucus fool no one except perhaps themselves with this strategy.  Anyone who is even halfway through a 101 course in successful negotiations knows that you NEVER begin a bargaining session with the end result that you hope to gain.  You always begin by arguing from a point higher than that.

THUS IF THE WHITE HOUSE HAD EVER REALLY SUPPORTED A STRONG PUBLIC OPTION, PRESIDENT OBAMA WOULD NEVER HAVE DISMISSED SINGLE PAYER AT THE BEGINNING OF THE NEGOTIATIONS.  He intentionally weakened the argument AND he knew exactly what he was doing when he did it.  To say that he did not, would be to argue that he is stupid, which we all know that he is not.

So instead of asking whether Americans want a public option or status quo–which most Americans are fairly equally divided on, I added a third choice–single payer.  As you can see, from day one single payer has ruled overwhelmingly as the preferred choice by Americans.
