WHAT PART OF “HEALTH CARE IS NOT AFFORDABLE” DON’T THE REPUBLICANS AND BLUE DOG DEMOCRATS GET?

Here is the immoral proposition of healthcare in the USA today.

ANY PERSON IN AMERICA TODAY WORKING  FOR MINIMUM WAGE DOES NOT EARN ENOUGH TO PAY FOR HEALTH CARE PREMIUMS FOR THEIR FAMILY BECAUSE THEY WOULD NOT HAVE ENOUGH LEFT OVER TO PAY FOR THEIR RENT AND FOOD IF THEY PURCHASED HEALTH CARE INSURANCE.

That is a fact that no Blue Dog or Republican can deny.  BUT DO WE HEAR THIS POINT BEING MADE IN THE SENATE?  DO WE HEAR THIS POINT BEING MADE IN THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA?  And what have the Republicans done about this situation for the past 11 years from 1995 to 2006 when they had control of both houses of Congress.  DID ANY ONE OF THEM

A few days ago, the minimum wage went up from $6.55 to $7.25 according to the U.S. Department of Labor. The measure affects 29 states while other states already have an equal or superior minimum wage (note that employers are required to pay whichever is the highest: Federal or State). This new federal minimum wage results in an income of $1,160 a month or close to $14,000 a year. Poverty guidelines established for 2009 indicate that for a family of two, $14,750 or less

Thus the guaranteed federal minimum wage in the USA is not even that to keep a family out of poverty much less pay the $15,000 for healthcare.

Medical costs for a family of four = $15,609.  TELL ME HOW AN AMERICAN WHO EARNS MINIMUM WAGE ANNUAL SALARY OF $14,750 WILL AFFORD THAT?

I think part of the problem with the disconnect between the multimillionaire Republicans Senators and Blue Dog Democrats and their multimillion dollar health care insurance pals is that they don’t understand the reality of poverty.  SINGLE PAYER WOULD INCREASE THE PROSPERITY OF AMERICANS AND OUR COUNTRY IN WAYS UNIMAGINABLE

Now is the time for change–real change.
