If Liz were Queen

Clean Coal: Never was there an oxymoron more insidious, or more dangerous to our public health. Invoked as often by the Democratic presidential candidates as by the Republicans and by liberals and conservatives alike, this slogan has blindsided any meaningful progress toward a sustainable energy policy.

Here is the reality of what companies like Duke Energy are doing to produce “clean  coal”.  Remember, there is that first step of getting it out of the ground. This reminds me of the same kind of stupidity and lack of forethought that Americans demonstrated after World War II when we exploded all those nuclear bombs in the Pacific.  Absolutely ridiculous–not to mention horrifying.  One of the narrators in the film below nailed it when he said that what coal mining companies [like Duke Energy] are doing is raping the environment.

Not only do our elected officials have a responsibility to stop this devastation of our environment here in the USA now, they also have a responsibility to see that they do not sign any trade agreements that allow companies like Duke Energy to do it in other countries such as Latin America.
