Arizona, Colorado, Louisiana, Michigan, Nevada, North Dakota, Oregon, and Wisconsin–What are you waiting for?

December 29, 2011 in 2012 Elections, Class War

YES, IT IS WORTH THE EFFORT TO RECALL THESE PEOPLE–ESPECIALLY THOSE IN THE SENATE–many of whom have as many as four more years to continue their damage to our nation and its people!

Nine states may not sound like many.  However it represent 18 Senators and 50 members of the House.  Recalling these people would help to change the balance in BOTH Houses.  Furthermore, it would be a huge wakeup call to those who remain in Congress.

As reported earlier, Montana has begun efforts to recall all its federally elected officials.  The eight other states that allow citizens to recall federally elected officials are;  Arizona, Colorado, Louisiana, Michigan, Nevada, North Dakota, Oregon, and Wisconsin.

My question is: What are the rest of you waiting for?  Start recall efforts now.  Wisconsin, you already have practice with Scott Walker.  Expand your effort to include the shysters in Washington DC as well!

If the  other 8 states who are able to recall their federal officials were to do so, this would make a difference in the balance of Congress. Perhaps a few of them are good guys, but if you know anything, you know that the majority of them are not.  They are liars and Wall Street sycophants who don’t care about the 99%.

The net worth estimates below are all, because of reporting requirements, likely to be on the low end.  Most of these shysters are much more Wall Street wealthy than they admit.  Also keep in mind that approximately 50 million Americans live in poverty today–interesting, isn’t it?  50 million is also the number of Americans who are estimated to be without health insurance but who will be required by law to purchase junk health insurance from Wall Street corporations in 2016 to satisfy legal requirements.

Keep in mind that while millions of Americans were losing their jobs and jobs over the past three years, the bums in Congress, were making hundreds of thousands (and in some cases, millions of dollars) from the Wall Street investments.  For the past 4 years Wall Street has made money for its investors by firing American workers and selling off assets and hoarding over $3 trillion dollars that doesn’t even belong to them in the first place.

Note:  all the ones with a double asterisk sold you out by voting for the H.R. 1540 National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal year 2012.  These should all be recalled now before they can do more damage. As far as the Senators go, suffice it to say that of all these states that allow recall, only the two Senators from Oregon stood up for the people and said no:  Senator Ron Wyden of Oregon; Senator Jeff Merkley of Oregon.  When you look at the votes of those who voted your civil rights away, please notice the “bipartisan” quality of the votes.  Forget about “Democrat” or “Republican”.  They are one party–the Wall Street party.

According to H.R. 1540 National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal year 2012, the US military will have the power to detain Americans suspected of involvement in terrorism without charge or trial and imprison them for an indefinite period of time. Application of the law could almost completely destroy civil rights of Americans. Representatives of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) regard the new act as unprecedented assault on the rights and liberties of US citizens.

1. **Carl Levin (D)  Are you kidding? Net Worth  $2, 360,000  (in 2008 his net worth was a mere $1,698, 553.  Levin has made over a million bucks off his Wall Street investments during this recession.

Another member of the Congressional Wall Street party.  You couldn’t find a better poster child to prove the phoniness of the two-party system than Carl Levin.  In 2006, 61,000 of the total population of Mr. Levin’s district were in poverty.  In 2010, 96,000 were in poverty.

Levin voted yes for H.R. 4853 the extension of the Bush Tax Cuts for the rich.
The 2010 extension of tax cuts didn’t just continue the tax cuts for billionaires and millionaires enacted under George W. Bush. It expanded those tax cuts, allowing inheritance of estates of up to 10 million dollars tax-free and deepening special tax favors for investors. The legislation also undermined the integrity of Social Security by creating a new standard of low funding for the Social Security trust fund, exposing Social Security to new charges of being unsustainably funded.

Levin voted yes on Motion to Concur on Patriot Act
On February 25, 2010, the House of Representatives passed an extension of Patriot Act provisions for spying on Americans without establishment of probable cause or so much as a demonstration that the person being spied upon is even tangentially connected to terrorism. This reauthorization of the most controversial of Patriot Act powers made it through the House hidden within Medicare legislations and contained no reforms whatsoever.

Levin co-sponsored the Korean Trade agreement (sponsored by Eric Cantor)–another unbalanced trade act that will ship 169,000 American jobs overseas and increate the trade deficit by $16 billion.

Proclaim the Queen!

St. Ron Paul is a greedy Wall Street multimillionaire hypocrite just like the rest of them

    December 28, 2011 in 2012 Elections

To listen to some Ron Paul fans, one would think that he is in line right after Jesus and  the Virgin Mary.

“Taint so” folks.  Ron Paul is no different from the 44% of our Congress who are Wall Street multimillionaires.  Like them, he too has gotten rich off the lives of workers from the 99%–not only in the USA, but the world.

But don’t take my word for it.  Look up Ron Paul and his Wall Street investment in Open Secrets.Figure it out for yourself.  It will have more meaning if you do.

Ron Paul increased his wealth from $3,930,000 in 2008 to $5,064,000 in 2009 – over a million dollars richer.  Yep, Saint Ron Paul made over a million bucks in the Wall Street Casino at a time when millions of Americans were losing their jobs and homes.  Ron Paul is no different from any other greedy millionaire Wall Street shystet that we have “representing” us in Congress.

You think Ron Paul cares about people?  Think again.  If he did, he would not invest in corporations known for murdering their workers.

Mr. Paul, a millionaire five times over, has several million of his assets invested in numerous mining corporations including three of the worst mining corporations in the world: Anglogold Ashanti Ltd $250,001 to $500,000 According to Forbes AngloGold Ashanti was accused in 2007 in Colombia for “murders of trade union and community leaders who opposed the company’s activities in the region”. Barrick Gold $100,001 to $250,000 Barrick Gold is known for its tactics in “suppressing dissident voices, dividing communities, and manipulating local and national politics”. And speaking of “Freedom”, Barrick Gold is famous for their lack of free, prior and informed consent for local people”. Newmont Mining $250,001 to $500,000 -In August 2004, the Indonesian Ministry of Environment filed a US $133.6 million civil lawsuit against Newmont, claiming the company’s Minahasa Raya mine contaminated local fish stocks, causing serious illness and death for nearby villagers.

Those from the 99% who think that Ron Paul represents them are at least as big of a fool as those who still buy into the myth of a two-party system.

We have a one-party Wall Street System in Washington DC today and Ron Paul is a player in that system–just like the majority in Washington DC.

Montana has the right idea.  They are recalling their fakes.  They are not waiting until November of 2012 to toss them out.

The Second Cold War and South America: New U.S. Strategic Directions

December 28, 2011 in 2012 Elections, Foreign Affairs

What new form of hegemony from the USA?  Try the New Strategy of “Containment” of China

The “war against terror” inaugurated by George W. Bush as a response to the September 11 2001 attack is now giving way to a strategy of “containment” of China, the new strategy laid out by the Pentagon to encircle, and eventually stifle the asiatic power, with the objective of maintaining US global supremacy.

“In our plans and proposals for the future, we shall dedicate resources to maintain our strong military presence in the region”, said Barack Obama on November 17 to the Australian parliament. In the November edition of Foreign Policy, secretary of State Hillary Clinton filled in some of the gaps. “During the past ten years we have dedicated considerable resources to Irak and Afghanistan. During the next ten years, we have to look carefully at an intelligent use of our time and energy, in a way that we establish the best possible position to maintain our leadership.”

A NATO of the Pacific is being formed around China.  The USA already has military bases in Japan and throughout the Pacific. Now they are establishing them in Australia. But that is just the military part of the strategy.  There is also an economic strategy being put in place as well.

An ambitious free trade agreement among various Pacific countries called the TransPacific Association Agreement, TPP is also being put in place. (The Trans-Pacific Strategic Agreement of Economic Association was signed in 2005 by four countries:  Brunei, Chile, New Zealand and Singapore.  The rest, including the United States, were incorporated later.)  Today  the TTP includes nine countries: Australia, Brunei, Chile, the United States, Malaysia, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore and Vietnam.  China is left out and the plan is to break ASEAN,  the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, where China enjoys a  hegemonic role.

And who will lose in the games played by the Wall Street Rich and Powerful?

Bingo!  The 99%–not only of the USA, but of the world.

For example, the sacrifice for the American workers for the recently passed Korean Trade Agreement is the loss of 169,000 American jobs AND the increase by $16 billion of our already severely imbalanced trade deficit.  These statistics are from the Congressional Budget Office.

and who gets richer from these deals and this hegemonic strategy of the Washington powerful?

The Wall Street invested 1% which currently includes the majority of Congress and the White House who push these unfair deals.

Tackle Tax Havens of the Wall Street Rich

December 27, 2011 in The Rich

www.tackletaxhavens.com is a global campaign designed to raise public awareness of tax havens: what they are, the damage they do and how we can tackle them together.

Taxes are the most efficient and sustainable means of supporting vital public services like education, healthcare, a legal framework, police force, public transport networks, welfare and much, much more.

But the wealthy can escape their responsibilities to the societies on which they and their wealth depend – by hiding their money in tax havens.

Money laundering is no different from tax evasion practiced by most Wall Street corporations and many members of Congress and the White House Administration.

        What happens now?

A drug dealer gets caught in a police sting and is slapped in jail. Better still – his or her financiers and accountants get charged with money-laundering, and are packed off in disgrace too. Justice is done. Rightly so.

But the story doesn’t end there.

The drugs money laundering industry is part of a much bigger picture. It is dwarfed by another: the tax evasion industry.

Now here’s the rub. The drug money launderers and the tax evaders use exactly the same tax haven scams and tricks as each other. Money laundering and tax evasion are two rails on the very same tracks through the global financial system.

But the world has decided to tackle one – and not the other. It has made drugs trafficking a money laundering offence: if you are a financer or accountant or banker and get caught helping a drugs trafficker, you may well go to jail too.

But not tax evasion. Even though tax evasion a criminal offence in most countries, it isn’t a money-laundering offence. Tax evaders go to jail. But the wealthy tax haven accountants, lawyers and bankers who helped them commit these crimes? They walk free.

The money-launderers and their financiers almost never get caught – there is a failure rate of 99 percent, by some estimates. That’s because we haven’t got serious about tax havens, or about tax evasion.

It is time for this to change.

        Visit www.tackletaxhavens.com to get involved.

Kicking them all out may be sooner than later for at least 9 states!

          December 27, 2011 in 2012 Elections

Montana doesn’t want to wait until 2012 to kick their asses out.

Just in case they haven’t gotten the memo regarding the rage of the 99% against them,  they got another wave of it recently

A group of Montanans has launched an effort to recall the state’s U.S. congressional delegation over recent votes on a controversial defense bill thatexplicitly authorized the indefinite detention of terrorism suspects, including American citizens.

Montana — along with 8 other states — has language that extends its “right of recall” to members of its federal congressional delegation “on the grounds of physical or mental lack of fitness, incompetence, violation of oath of office, official misconduct, or conviction of certain felony offenses,” the group notes in a press release. The petition, drafted by Montana residents William Crain and Stewart Rhodes, then calls for recall elections for Senators Max S. Baucus (D) and Jonathan Tester (D), as well as Rep. Denny Rehberg (R) on charges that they have violated their oaths of office by not protecting and defending the United States Constitution in voting for the National Defense Authorization Act.

More on the Montana residents William Crain and Stewart Rhodes are spearheading the drive: Mr. Crain is an artist. Mr. Rhodes is an attorney, Yale Law School graduate, and the national president of the organization Oath Keepers, who are military and law enforcement officers, both former and active duty, who vow to uphold their Oath to the US Constitution and to disobey illegal orders which constitute attacks on their fellow citizens. Rhodes said: ”These politicians from both parties betrayed our trust, and violated the oath they took to defend the Constitution. It’s not about the left or right, it’s about our Bill of Rights. Without the Bill of Rights, there is no America. It is the Crown Jewel of our Constitution, and the high-water mark of Western Civilization.”

The eight other states that allow citizens to recall federally elected officials are;  Arizona, Colorado, Louisiana, Michigan, Nevada, North Dakota, Oregon, and Wisconsin.

I say GO FOR IT!   IF YOU DON’T HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL NOVEMBER 2012 TO VOTE THEM OUT DO IT NOW!  The sooner we kick their asses out the less time they will have to do more damage to our nation.

Max Baucus should have had his Wall Street corporate ass kicked out the day he called the White House police out against a group of doctors who wanted to participate in the discussions on health care.  There was no room at the Senate table for the doctors–the spaces were already filled by Wall Street lobbyists.

Consequently, we have such a great health care plan:  Force 50 million out of work Americans in 2016 to purchase junk Wall Street health insurance to satisfy a legal requirement and make congressional Wall Street shareholders even richer.

                by Ross Caputi / December 26th, 2011

It has been seven years since the 2nd siege of Fallujah — the American assault that left the city in ruins, killed thousands of civilians, and displaced hundreds-of-thousands more — the assault that poisoned a generation, plaguing the people who live there with cancers and their children with birth defects.

It has been seven years and the lies that justified the assault still perpetuate false beliefs about what we did.

                  December 26, 2011 in 2012 Elections, Obama

Someone needs to point out the difference to Obama between “exceptionalism” and those who think they are an “exception to the rule”  but then again some could make the argument there there is no difference.

A couple of weeks ago Jason Leopold published an article in Truthout titled “Obama’s Twisted Version of American Exceptionalism Laid Bare”

In it, the author pointed out what an utter hypocrite Obama is. In the beginning of December he issued a proclamation commemorating the 63rd anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
“All people should live free from the threat of extrajudicial killing, torture, oppression and discrimination, regardless of gender, race, religion, nationality, sexual orientation, or physical or mental disability,” Obama’s proclamation states.

Apparently, the Nobel Peace Prize-winning president doesn’t believe the indefinite detention of detainees at Guantanamo, especially those who have already been cleared for release; or the administration’s refusal to allow prisoners detained and tortured by the US government in Afghanistan, rises to the level of human rights abuses as outlined in his stunningly hypocritical proclamation. Nor does the former constitutional law professor believe that the extrajudicial killing of Muslim cleric Anwar al-Awlaki and propagandist Samir Kahn, US citizens accused of aiding terrorists who were assassinated without due process by a drone strike Obama personally authorized, is a human rights issue.
